Smiths Cabinet Shop was founded in 1956
by Phillip Smith in Evans City Pennsylvania. There Phil and
his wife Ella Mae began a legacy of building quality kitchen
cabinets and countertops. That legacy almost came to an end in
the fall of 1962, when the cabinet shop was completely destroyed by
fire. Through hard work and perseverence, the shop was rebuilt
and remains much the same today as it was back in 1963. Phil
and Ella Mae continued to build cabinets together until the fall of
1995 when Phil died. Ella Mae had a choice to make, sell the
shop or let her son continue the legacy that she and Phil had worked
so hard to build. She decided to let her son Bill continue the
tradition that they started.
Today the cabinet shop is run by her son
Bill Smith, grandson Will Smith, and her daughter Phyllis
Jesperson. Things are done much the same as Phil did them for
all those years. We have added some time saving machines such
as a 36" wide belt sander, a 18 spindle line boring machine, and a
pocket drilling machine. We continue to look for
technology that saves time without sacraficing quality. At Smiths
Cabinet Shop we strive to continue what Phil believed in, quality
cabinets at affordable prices.
